Farmer Greg kicks off the week with Hail Talk, er, that is Crop Talk and a rundown of the effects a recent hailstorm had on the fruit and vegetables we are growing for you at Tiny’s farm.
This week, CSA Members can look forward to receiving Gala, Golden Delicious and Honeycrunch Apples, Arctic Snow Nectarines, Bosc Pears, Indian Blood and September Sun Peaches, Flavor King and Flavorich Pluots with Astro Arugula, Heirloom Tomato Mix, Bell Pepper Mix, a Carrot Mix or Finale Fennel, and Green Summer Crisp Nevada and Jericho Romaine Lettuce.
Whew, what a list! Happy eating and don’t forget to take a look at your Fresh from the Farm member newsletter for storage and serving tips and recipes like Grilled Fruit Cobbler, Tomato & Feta Tart, Carrot Oatmeal Cookies and Spicy Oven Roasted Pluots.
Oh, and six weeks left for your 2010 CSA! Final pickup is Wednesday, November 10, 2010.
UPDATE: While harvesting yesterday afternoon, we realized that there were not enough carrots or fennel for every member’s bag this week so you may instead receive eggplant or extra of another variety already included in the above list such as pears or nectarines.
